Word O the Day

I'm moving in 3 days. Yup. Three..... wow..... wish I wouldn't have procrastinated so badly *as she sits adding yet another post to her blog rather than actually packing* I'm going to keep it short and sweet- here's little nugget of a Jen-ism {feel free to poach it, I'm too lazy to sue you} that was inspired by my bestie's ritual of getting just a teeeeensy bit sloshed on red in times of stress. He though it was pretty funny. Truthfully, so do I......

Merlot + Loaded = "Merloaded"

As in, "Reeling from the anxiety of having to pack the contents of her entire house in only 3 days, a merloaded Jenevieve was found in her shoe closet--clutching Choos... in the fetal position"

L is for Lagerfeld {and Lady boner}

Images via Style.com

I don't think I've mentioned, but in addition to adoring food, fashion and home design, I'm kiiiiiinda a complete art dork. I find the colors and textures endlessly inspiring. Seems Chanel is feeling the love too. The Paris Pre-Fall show was inspired by Byzantine artwork {which is a personal favorite, magpie that I am} and the Empress Theodora. The waves of models adrift in gilded & bejeweled garments had me abs.o.lutely delirious! EVERYTHING from the hair, to the clothes, to the makeup was spot on gorgeous and I have been left with a serious {and debilitating} case of lust. The venue *pfft* pushed me into full tilt fashion madness ... the 2nd floor salon of Chanel's Rue Cambon store was outfitted with silk covered ottomans, opulent jewel toned rugs, mounds of beaded pillows, and votive-adorned glass mosaic tables. O! And in case that wasn't quite enough luxury for you- the walls were enveloped in sequined bronze silk... unadulterated.Chanel.decadence *swoon* I want to break in and just LIVE there... I owe my friends a serious apology b/c I have been a complete pain in the taco ever since. It is ALL I can talk about. Needless to say the whole thing gives me a raging/full on/ totally awkward in front of the parents lady boner.... but I digress.... Inspired by the show {and emboldened by the notion that Byzance was already on my radar} I put together two New Year's Eve looks that pay tribute to the gilded age. The black one is my fave. What are you guys wearing for NYE??

Winter Break

No rest for the wicked....I have a million cookies to bake, a Christmas dinner menu to plan, and a few more gifts to wrap all within the next few days {way to wait till the last minute, Tyler *sheesh*}. Anyway, please enjoy this winter-y pic of the fab Ms. Lily and the latest and greatest from your favorite Aprizi curator {that would be me} in my absence.

Happy Saturday!

Hello, Kittens! This week has been a smidge exhausting, but not to worry{!} I have just the sort of deliciously low key weekend planned that will get me back to my usual sparky self in no time. First on the agenda- movie night with my bestie, Randy. Anyone else DYING to see Black Swan? Rodarte did the costumes and I have a tulle-festooned chubbie just thinking about it! The rest of my weekend will be spent drinking massive amounts of Starbucks, shopping for my secret Santa {& I totally lucked out this year b/c I LUV who I got}, wrapping presents, and baking cookies. *sigh* Here's a visual rundown of my must haves for this weekend... hope yours is equally stellar ♥

Just for Kicks

While taking a {not so needed} break from packing, I decided to do a little online shopping. Maybe I am behind the pack on this one, but have you guys seen the shoes at Penelope & Coco? I'd never even heard of the brand before today, but I'm kinda in lurve ♥

To my boyfriend's horror I am also in LOVE with the model's bangs {and that wicked antler headband!}

Born Lucky

I live a pretty charmed life. It's actually a running joke amongst my friends that I will always win at scratch offs, I will never get a speeding ticket (no matter how many times I get pulled over), and if there is one must-have item we are all feverishly searching for it's assumed I will find the last one... and it will be in my size and on sale. I attribute my good luck to my own brand of karma-- be kind, assume the universe is looking out for you, and always always always be grateful (b/c the life you already have is pretty special). It's simple, but it's always worked for me. Every once in a great while though, something SO amazing happens it shocks even me.....on that note, I'm delighted to share that I was chosen to be a part of the incredibly talented and diverse curator team over at Aprizi!! Better still (I know, I'm still reeling from the first part) I was fortunate enough to be a contributor on their holiday gift guide for foodies... which was tweeted about by LUCKY MAGAZINE?!?!!! I still can't believe it. It's a huge validation and I'm super excited about this new adventure!

Roman Holiday

The new year is fast approaching... and I am buried under a pile of moving boxes. Yesterday, I began the daunting task of packing up my closet. I don't know about you, but packing takes me FOREVER because I'm constantly daydreaming and reminiscing. Each piece holds a memory and I'm fortunate enough to have some pretty damn good memories to mull over when I should really be doing something productive. For example, I found a few scarves I purchased on a recent trip to Rome and I was instantly transported back to the time that I spent there {I also proceeded to spend the afternoon styling rather than packing.... ah, well!} The cobblestone streets, the FOOD, the humbling feeling of being so small and new in the world compared to this ancient city and the incredibly chic men and women that can be seen on every corner and atop every Vespa leave an impression every.time. It's magical! While still don't have time to put together a proper post, I thought I'd share some pictures from my time in Rome this fall. I hope it inspires you the way it inspired me

A Lovely Distraction

I'm a busy little bee lately.... The holidays are in full swing, the BF and I are in the process of moving, and I've committed myself to throwing a fabulous party {I've recently decided it should be in the new house since it will be a great way to kick off our lives there!! And moving boxes are decidedly not very glamorous} There isn't a whole lot of time left to devote to blogging right now.... or so I thought. The second I laid eyes on this necklace I KNEW I had to share it.

Season of Sparkle

Jen For Aprizi

I know this is premature, but it always make me a little sad when it's time to pack up the holiday decorations. I love how sparkly and festive my house looks this time of year. And even though I'm no style slouch, it's always shocking to me how barren the place looks once everything has been put away. This year; however, I've devised a brilliant plan! I've chosen seasonal decor that is cheery enough to be holiday-worthy, but chic enough to enjoy all year!

1. Ceramic Sea Urchins from Tonic Home $290
2. Turquoise and Gold Tray from Elements $145
3. Gold Beaded Pillow Slipcover from The Home Centric on Etsy $38
4. Mint Julep Cups from The Paris Market $28
5. Pear Tree Plaque (you're on your own for the partridge) from Terrain $128
6. Mercury Glass Candles from Himalayan Trading Co $28
7. Salt and Pepper Shakers from The Pink Daisy by L'objet $165
8. Etched Mercury Glass Jug from Jayson Home & Garden $295

All Tomorrow's Parties

Dinner Party

What I love most about this time of year are the endless excuses for getting all dolled up. There's nothing quite like a holiday party to bring out your most festive, well- dressed self. The video in my last post actually inspired me to take a stab at entertaining, so now I'm on the hunt for the perfect party dress. Tis' the season, right? While I'm SUPER excited to gather all my friends, flex my hostess muscles, and {hopefully} deliver a fun and memorable evening, I'm also pretty darn excited about the prospect of a sparkly new party frock! Here are a few that caught my eye.

1. Antik Batik Sequined Chiffon dress $375
2. Jane Norman Embellished waist Jacquard dress $41
3. Karen Millen Beaded dress $270
4. Rebecca Taylor Silk Bustier dress $495
5. Miss Selfridge Taffeta dress $74
6. Rebecca Taylor Tiered Party dress $395
7. Tibi One Shoulder Silk Draped dress $425
